Lace Front Wig Costs

Lace front wigs have been around forever.  They’re basically just the front piece of the wig where it meets your natural hair line. They are called “lace” because they are literally made from French or Swiss lace.

Originally created for women going through hair loss, they’re incredibly easy to put on and will match your hairline to be virtually undetectable.

Ever wonder how celebrities change their hairstyles so quickly?  You guessed it, lace front wigs!

Do you have to be a celebrity to afford a lace front wig?  No!  There are three types of lace front wigs and we cover them all below, including how they’re made, how they can be worn and what they cost on average.

Lace Front Wigs

Lace fronts are made by delicately weaving human hair or synthetic hair in a pattern that leaves small holes between the threads as its woven into the mesh of the wig. As the material is woven it is knotted into the lace which give the most natural appearance of hair growing out of the scalp.

Some wigs are “hand-knotted” which means they are hand woven, making for a much higher quality wig, but also more expensive. Most lace front wigs are made from all natural human hair but can be made from synthetic fiber as well.

Most of these wigs have 1″ of lace, while some will go to 3.5 inches, the rest of the wig is machine wefted.

Lace front wig cost range: $25 – $5,000+

The costs of the wigs are going to range by brand, hair type (human or synthetic) and lace width.

If you’re looking for a quick hairstyle update, most online and retail wig stores have lace front wigs for $25-$50.  However, Amazon.com has a ton of great options that are often cheap and have a ton of reviews from real users that can help you make a decision.

If you’re looking at a more expensive lace wig, but aren’t sure how the cut or color might look on you, go buy a cheap one from Amazon to get an idea of how it might look!  This way you’re not out hundreds of dollars for something you really don’t like.

Mid-range lace front wigs are available from all the major brands and run in the $250-$500 range.

The more expensive lace front wigs can go from $1,500+ and will feature real human hair and unrivaled quality.

Full Lace Wigs

Full lace wigs are basically what they sound like, a full lace, hand tied wigs.  Essentially, each piece of hair is 100% hand tied to the lace, which allows you to create a completely natural look and feel.

Full lace wigs can be styled any way you want, parted or even brought into a pony tail if you like.

To take full advantage of these wigs, they are often applied with adhesive to the scalp and come in a few different cap styles.

Full lace wig cost range: $35 – $3,500+

Much like lace front wigs, full lace wigs run a wide spectrum in terms of costs.

Looking at lower cost options on Amazon or other online retailers is a great way to take a new hairstyle or color for a “test drive.”

However, for more expensive options, not to mention the need to use adhesive and properly apply a full lace wig, we’d strongly recommend going to your local wig store.

You might be able to save a few bucks online, but the one thing a store can help with is apply the wig properly, something that can’t be done online.  In addition, most wig retailers would probably be willing to offer you a small discount if you buy from them vs. online.

Glueless Full Lace Wigs

Glueless full lace wigs are essentially the same as full lace wigs, you just don’t have to glue them.  They’re great options for women with hair as they can be easily secured, and offer the same styling options – basically anything you want to do – as full lace wigs!

Glueless full lace wig cost range: $35 – $3,500+

Again, just like full lace wigs, you’re going to find a wide range of options available.

Be smart, try less expensive full lace wig styles and colors before investing good money into these products!

Lace Front Wig Care

Just like real hair, lace front wigs need to be cleaned and cared for if you want them to last a long time.

The cheaper options should last for anywhere from 1-3 years with proper care.  Don’t forget, you get what you pay for 😉

More expensive options, especially real human hair can last much longer, but they must have the proper care.  This is another great reason to get to know your local wig store.  Many offer wig care services to help maintain your wig, and in some cases revitalize an old one you may have let sit for awhile.
