Giuliana Rancic Reveals she has Breast Cancer

Her future baby has already saved her life. This is what Giuliana Rancic has said regarding e way in which she found out that she in in the early stages breast cancer. Giuliana Rancic of E!News revealed on the Today show that she was diagnosed with breast cancer during testing her doctor insisted she have before continuing fertility treatments.

Giuliana and her husband Bill Rancic (of The Apprentice fame) married in 2007 in Capri, Italy. They began trying to conceive in early 2009 and have been challenged with fertility problems. They have tried several IVF’s and in 2010 Giuliana suffered a miscarriage. She and her her husband were preparing to do her 3rd IVF treatment when her doctor told her that he wanted her to have a mammogram first as a precaution as the hormones would accelerate any cancerous cells in her body. Giuliana who was only 36 at the time at first resisted but then agreed to have the test. She had planned on having mammograms but not until age 40, like she had always been told.

Giuliana went to the hospital had the mammogram. She received a call the next day telling her the doctor had found “something” and that they needed her to return to the hospital. She was allowed to go to Colorado where her fertility specialist was and have the egg retrieval performed but was told not to proceed with fertilization until she had the results were back. “It was just a kick in the stomach,” Giuliana said.

The day she received the news of her diagnosis was the hardest day. “I went to the hospital in Los Angeles , when they came in to tell me, they said it pretty quickly, they just said, ‘I’m sorry, you have breast cancer,’. It’s what you expect , but it’s so much more, it was like, incredible instant sobbing and the world just crashed down around me. I couldn’t believe it-36 years old, no family history? I couldn’t believe it” says Rancic.

Guiana said her husband Bill has been incredible. She said he just let s her feel what she is feeling and does not try to change that. He lets her cry when she wants to and he is there for her. She said he has “been everything.”

Giuliana will be having a lumpectomy sometime this week and will follow that up with six weeks  of radiation. She is expected to have a swift and complete recovery. Giuliani is planning on continuing her efforts to have a baby after her recovery. “I’m not gonna give up, I want that baby. And what’s amazing is that baby will have saved my life… Now I truly believe God was looking out for me. Had I gotten pregnant (earlier),  a few years down the line I could be a lot sicker.”

Giuliana plans on talking about this tonight on E! News. Whether it will be addressed on her reality show that’s on the Style network called Giuliana & Bill has not been announced, however is probably very likely. Giuliana is a very open person and has always been up front about her personal challenges.

Giuliana said that she does not want people feeling sorry for her- just go get checked. “I think a lot of us think we’re invincible. But we have to start putting ourselves on the to-do list.”
