In recent years, there’s been a rise in the popularity of the hairstyle known as “split dyed hair.”

The style can be a fun way to change your look. Hairstylists achieve the look by dying each half of your hair a different color. Usually, it is split vertically down the middle of the head.

A basic hairstyle can be given some intrigue and personality with the help of split-colored hair, which is a fantastic approach to achieving this look.

Of course, some people don’t want to change their hairstyle up that much, yet still want to stand out from the crowd with a unique appearance.

If that describes you, then a great option is to experiment with wearing wigs. A high-quality human hair or synthetic split dye wig will give you the look you want, whenever you want it.

Below in our Split Dye Wig Guide, we’ll look at some excellent split dye wig options. You’ll also learn how to split dye a wig if you want to try it yourself.

How To Split Dye A Wig

Here’s how to split dye your wig…

First, split the wig in the middle. Combing the wig before doing so is optional.

Then you’ll need to flip the wig inside out to the point where the cap is showing. Next, you’ll have to pin down everything before cutting.

Before cutting, go ahead and split the wig in the middle by placing a clip or tying it. Then using scissors, carefully cut the wig strap and cap in the middle into 2.

Here’s what you’ll need for the following steps: An old cooking pot (that will never be used for food again!), a spoon, and the dye.

First, fill the cooking pot with enough water to submerge half of the wig. Then bring the water to a boil, and once it’s boiling, place a bit of dye on the water and stir.

Bring the stove to a lower temperature and submerge half of the wig after a little while. Stir slowly once again. Add enough dye again until you reach the desired color.

After 10+ minutes, or until the dye has soaked into the wig, turn off the heat. Then slowly place the wig over a bucket and rinse your wig completely using cold water. Keep this up until the water is clear.

Finally, pat the wig dry using a towel and let it dry overnight. It is best not to use a blow dryer, especially for synthetic wigs. Once the wig is dry, comb your wig starting from the bottom.

After straightening the hair, then sew the two halves of the wig. After that, you are all done making your very own split-dye wig!
